In Episode 31 Gen and Jette talk about NaNoWriMo 2019. Love it or it hate, November has been designated National Novel Writing Month. It’s the time to tackle your novel with writers around the world. The goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 day, averaging about 1667 words per day. It’s a lot of writing, and neither of us is likely to hit the goal for NaNoWriMo 2019. But sometimes the point isn’t that you hit 50,000 words, it’s that you’re putting words down every day. In the end, you still end up with more words than you started! What more can a writer ask for?
We talk about the pros and cons of a word count challenge, past NaNoWriMo attempts, and our longterm writing goals. We discuss writing strategies, how you measure progress, and different methods for finding your writing stride.
Show Notes
This is the 20th year for #NaNoWriMo.
Writing is hard, go easy on yourself.
Anvil Press hosts a 3 day novel writing event over Labour Day Weekend, but that might be a bit much.
Join us in January for #JanNoWriMo because we’ve concluded November is a terrible month in which to write a novel. January is cold and we have nothing else going on. Plus it has an extra day. We’re going to aim for 25,000 words because sometimes baby steps is the answer.
